Emma Oliver Managing Director
Emma Oliver initiated her wish to create a top polo resource in the
UK a little over 6 years ago. Having successfully built up and sold
a large commercial service industry company, she felt the time
was right to indulge her passion for polo horses. She built Oliver
Twist Polo on the principle of adopting a two-pronged approach to
the modern game. Firstly, it is important for her and her team to
take the time to select fit, suitable and well trained ponies from all
around the world before importing them for eventual sale. The
second dynamic which Emma wished to bring to the game of polo
was a modern business and marketing sensitive approach. On both
accounts Emma and her team have been highly successful, having
sold a considerable number of ponies to all levels of the polo world,
including both the domestic and international high goal scene. Having
undertaken a number of high-profile consultancy projects, Emma’s
flair for marketing and business, coupled with her knowledge of polo,
have helped ensure successful results.

Simon Oliver Finance Director
After a very successful and decorated career as an officer in the
army, Simon Oliver now holds a senior position with a large
multi-national company in the London. He is currently the
Financial Director of Oliver Twist Polo. Simon is a self-confessed
member of the "I hate polo club", but suffers us all very gracefully
and always without complaint - not! Simon is in his own right an
accomplished horseman and is a Joint MFH and Saturday field master
for the well-known Vale of the White (VWH) Hunt.

Carol “Mom”
Carol, known to one and all as “mom” , is an essential part of the Oliver
Twist home team. Carol has taken it on herself to become the yard
manager in addition to her already extensive role as house manager. With
years of experience under her belt and six years of working for
Oliver Twist, she knows the horses needs in-side out. Her devotion to
both the horses and us humans and keeping us all fed, happy
healthy not to mention her never-ending resourcefulness and fun
packed days are without doubt why Oliver Twist is so succesfull at what
it does.

Pretoria Lee
"Torie" joined Oliver Twist in the winter of 2009. Torie has spent a life
time with horses. She competes at Intermediate level in eventing,
to Advanced level dressage andShe has shown horses at county level.
Torie is as mad as a hatter, has a wonderful sense of fun and is truly
wonderful with the horses. As you may imagine we have no problem in
getting a farrier or vet attend our yard when she is around!

Emily
"M" first joined Oliver Twist when she was 13 years old and worked
with us during her school holidays. Now at 19 she has returned
to work with us. Like Torie, she is mad, huge fun and the naghtier
the pony the more M likes it! M has worked with horses in every
disipline, she showjumps her own two horses, she has worked at a
dealing and breaking yard and at an Arab Stud. She loves her hunting and
two Tories brunette Emily is the yards blond bomb shell.

Our Riders
Our specialist riders, who have in the past assisted us in preparing our
horses, range from top-flight dressage riders to world-renowned high
goal polo horsemen such as Eddie Kennedy, Glen Gilmore, Simon Keyte,
Luke Tomlinson, Mark Tomlinson, Ed Hitchman, Malocom Borwick and
the famouse Bautistia Heguy. Without their wonderful horsemanship
and true understanding of the game and all that it entails for the horse,
our horses would not have been able to achieve the results they have.

Our Team of Experts
As an organisation we work very closely with specialists in their chosen
fields. They all form an essential part of our team and cover areas such
as feed and nutrition, aqua therapy, osteopathy, massage, remedial
shoeing and last - but by no means least - is Tom our very
long-suffering and top-class vet. Without all these highly-qualified
and experienced individuals our horses would certainly not be as
healthy, happy and level as they are now.

Our Facilities
The training facilities we have here at Talland House are first class, with
international size indoor and outdoor riding arenas which are fully floodlit;
walkers; stick and ball field; and our new one-and-three-quarter furlong
exercise track. Bad weather conditions or hard ground - nothing stops us!

The Family Members - Wallice
For regular visitors to the site, we are very sad to report on Grommets
passing. At the age of 14 he was unable to overcome an infection.
We all desperately miss him including Wallice. She on the other
hand is very well but is still only interested in the finer things in life such
as her sofa, going shopping and lazing in the sun!

Slap and Tickle
Slap and Tickle are our two junior members of the family. Slap is in
charge of licking everyone half to death, whereas Tickle likes to join
Wallice in the more leisurely pursuit of life!
